The Death of Beige?

by Print Decor Melbourne

Are we too scared to be brave with colour?

Could this be the death of beige?

A gentleman brought in a small circular embossed metal religious artifact (image of Ganesh) to frame. I asked him to pick the colours he thought would work. He chose red and orange pretty close to those above, one colour on top of the other. I was apprehensive and talked him into separating the colours with a thin antique silver slip. When we put it together with a small ornate gold frame it really came into its own. I'll take a photo and put it on our web site once we finish the framing.

Recently we have found some new artists and art works that literally pop off the canvas. There seems to be a trend for large images in bright bold colours. The pictures above and below were taken in our gallery this week and the art works were met with open admiration by many passers by.

Ok we're sorry if we offended beige. All colours are beautiful when arranged aesthetically. Our greatest joy is to help complement the artist's work with well designed framing.
